Easing
The speed curve of an animation: movement that speeds up and slows down instead of travelling at a constant rate.
Nothing in real life moves at a constant speed: a door starts gently and slows before it shuts. Easing copies that. “Ease in” starts slowly, “ease out” ends slowly, “ease in-out” does both.
Without easing, sliding text looks mechanical, almost broken. With it, it looks deliberate. In a short video, a strong ease out gives a title’s entrance energy; a slight bounce draws the eye to a figure.
A course’s price slides in and brakes sharply into place: the eye stops right there.
