Jump cut
A cut within the same shot that makes the picture “jump”: a pause or a stumble is removed without changing the framing.
A jump cut removes a piece from the middle of a take filmed without moving the camera. The person seems to hop slightly from one position to the next. Long seen as a mistake, it is now the grammar of talking-to-camera videos.
It keeps the pace: no “ums”, no pauses, every sentence lands straight away. Too many jumps in a row get tiring; a slight zoom or a cutaway between two cuts softens them.
A fitness coach explains an exercise; jump cuts remove the breaths and restarts, leaving only the clean sentences.
